Ask your dentist: The abcess needs to be diagnosed as it could have originated from a damaged nerve or from the tissues supporting the tooth. The point of origination is important as it will dictate how the abcess is treated. You may well end up seeing both the endodontist and the periodontist, or a dentist that offers both services.

It depends: Your abscess may be coming from an infected nerve. See a regular dentist first to see if you need a root canal, or periodontal treatment. If the tooth is fractured you will need to see an oral surgeon.

Dentist: See a general dentist first, he is the captain of your team & he can make the diagnosis (understand your problem ) & give you all the treatment recommendations &/ or referrals if necessary.
