A member asked:

The gum abscess was diagnosed as such without an x-ray. to what degree can i really trust the periodontist's opinion? it is raised with minimal pus.

Abscess : Sounds like an abscess. He is a professional and probably has the right tooth, but an x-ray would be definitive.

Get exam: He probably knows your mouth and assumes it is a perio(gum) abscess. But tobe definitive, you should get an x-ray and exam. It could be a root canal abscess or something different. See your dentist.

High degree: A periodontist is a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of gum disease. This is an opinion you can trust with a high level of confidence.
