Education : By going to dental school and then additional training for orthodontia, orthodontists can assess a person's eruption pattern and occlusion. This information is used to determine at what time it would be most beneficial to begin treatment. It is not the same for everyone.

Mental checklists...: When we do an examination of a patient, we have a vision of an ideal result in our mind. When the patient does not meet those criteria, we start looking at the severity of the deviations from ideal and mentally making "red flags". When these are significant, then we will recommend that diagnostic records be taken to further evaluate the case. With the records, then we figure out the treatment.

Training: Orthodontists have over 2, 000 hours of cranio-facial growth and development training. They are taught to envision the individually obtainable optimum for each patient, and how to help each patient obtain that optimum result. Couple this with years of experience and you have the perfect combination of circumstance in this exquisite specialty area to guide your child to the best result.
