Non-medical benefit: A non-medical benefit of spicy foods is "greater happiness" if one loves the taste of spicy foods. A health benefit of spicy foods is that it can improve "bland" healthy foods to make them palatable so that a person will eat more of the "bland" healthy foods. However, if one drinks liquids to wash down spicy foods, he should be sure the liquids aren't filled with sugar or fat calories.
