Bruising under skin: The most common cause of easy bruising is senile purpura. This usually occurs in middle-aged or elderly, fair-skinned persons who have had a lot of sun exposure. The sun damages the elastin fibers in the skin as well as the collagen, leading to thin skin that is prone to bruising. The most common sites include the forearms and legs.
