Loss of fat padding: Weight loss from gastric bypass causes you to loose some of the fat" padding" that lies under your skin and that acts like a cushion. Thus your skin can be more easily be damaged by forceful scratching, similar to what is seen in the elderly who also bruise easily from loss of supporting fat beneath the skin. Consult your doctor if your bruising is frequent or extensive.
