Might be virus: If you no longer have a fever, the soreness could be caused by a virus which antibiotics don't help. It should be gone in 4-5 days then. If you are still getting fevers, neck glands are swollen or feeling worse, you may have a bacteria that needs a different antibiotic, so should see doc again.
