Does it take about a week on daily valium to alliviate panic? or does it works for a couple hours symptomatically?

Panic and Valium: Valium does not prevent panic attacks. Various ssri antidepressants do have that capacity though. Valium is habituating, and can reduce anxiety only temporarily. Please see a psychiatrist for an evaluation of your situation and individualized treatment plan.
