A member asked:

If an overweight person eats under 1200 calories daily and burns 400 to 700 calories per day with exercise compulsively, is that an eating disorder?

Doubt it...: You have achieved an excellent balance between calorie reduction & increased calorie utilization--this is the crux of an effective weight loss program. Congratulations to you if you can keep this up until you reach your goal weight. On the other hand, if you compulsively binge, undereat/overexercise after reaching your goal, &/or use laxatives or force vomiting then seek help for your concern.

It depends: Losing weight with a 1200 calorie diet and exercise is a good, plan. The question becomes how compulsive is your routine . How do you feel if you miss a day of exercise? How long do you spend to burn that many calories. Is this plan interfering with other aspects of your life? Your answers to these questions should help you begin to answer your question.
