Depends : If it looks like an insect bite try using a slice of onion on it. It will neutralize the irritant and reduce swelling. You can also give homeopathic ledum which works great for "puncture" bites like that. If it is painful, red red red and he complains on moving it then he should be seen by the doctor.

Observe: This time of year, people get bitten a lot by mosquitoes. Some may react with redness only, some swell up immediately. Symptomatic treatment like giving benadryl, (diphenhydramine) Claritin , allegra, zyrtec and applying topical steroids should help if needed.Depends on severity, you may have to take him to er or your md if w respiratory symptoms, fever or child looks sick and affected site becomes discolored, hot, tender.
