Very Important: Both are synergistic to each other. Eating healthy prepares your body for more efficient exercise and exercising makes you process you food more efficiently plus dispelling toxic compounds from your body.

It wins the battle: Exercising will burn some additional calories, compared to sitting around. However, if you don't learn portion control & modify your diet to eat better, it is unlikely any program you try will succeed. That piece of pie you reward yourself with because you "exercised" was worth an hour + on the treadmill.
