Yes. : In my practice, i regularly treat patients with fears of flying. After a thorough evaluation, i may prescribe a medication like Alprazolam or clonazepam, which they can take an hour or so before flying. This calms them down enough to allow them to fly and become desensitized to the fears. Other types of exposure therapies are helpful, but this treatment regimen has worked well for my patients.

Conditioning better: Go to your local small airport and get an introductory ride in a small airplane with a flight instructor. Tell him of your fear and be ready to be very surprised. You may even become a pilot. I have thousands of hours in the air as a pilot, however I still hate commercial flying.
