A member asked:

Event monitor showed possible svt causing burst of rapid hr that wake me then disappear. dr.says just nuissance not life threat. other tests with normal results: echo, 24hr holter, stress test, sleep study.could they be missing something serious? feels

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not missing anything: Svt is not a disease and occurs in normal hearts. As your doctor said, it's an annoyance but not dangerous . It's very common in young women. You should avoid stimulants like caffeine, nicotine, xs alcohol, sleep deprivation, and stress if possible. Low potassium can contribute. Symptoms can be improved with medication but meds are only used for symptom control because the rhythm is not dangerous.
