Very similar: Adenomyosis is endometriosis in the wall of the uterus, and many patients will have both. It can make the uterus enlarged, tender and cause heavy, painful periods as well as painful sex. Like endometriosis, the symptoms can often be controlled with hormonal therapy, but the condition remains. Symptoms that do not respond to medical management may require surgery.
