How common are endometriosis and adenomyosis and would they be seen on a pelvic ultrasound? what are the symptoms? i have very painful periods, need hot water bottle every month and cant go to work for 1 day?

You're a little young for presence of adenomyosis. Painful periods can occur monthly without the presence of endometriosis but it can be a cause. An ultrasound can only demonstrate endometriosis if there are large clumps of it. Adenomyosis may or may not show up on ultrasound. Your gynecologist can advise you best.
