Is the dog rabid?: If the dog is not rabid then clearly the answer is no. If the dog has/had rabies then still probably no. If the dogs saliva did not getting into your blood (no broken skin) then you are okay. If in doubt, talk to your friend to find out what the health of his dog is and whether the dog is up on his immunizations.

Rabies Unlikely: Rabies can travel through unbroken skin so you should be ok.
