Rabies transmission from pets is rare but feral cats may be infected.A call to your local health department can let you know if if rabies is active in your region & the animals involved. They can also direct you to a source of the vaccine if it is needed. The cdc website also has information on rabies that may be helpful.www.cdc.gov.

Cats don't carry the rabies virus so don't worry. An open wound or cut with bleeding involved is subject to rabies from a bat, dog, coyotes , fox , skunk and raccoons.
