Yes: Any encounter with a wild animal that scratches or breaks the skin requires a 4 shot Rabies postexposure prophylaxis regimen. Go to your local ER for immediate treatment. The shots are administered at Day 1, Day 3, Day 7 and Day 14. Immunoglobulin may also be administered. Any delay in the administration of the vaccines can result in bacterial growth that results in severe disease.
