A member asked:

If a dog bit you and left no mark or wound and it doesn't bleed, can you get rabies from it?

Rabies transmission: Per the Centers for Disease Control: The most common mode of rabies virus transmission is through the bite and virus-containing saliva of an infected host. Though transmission has been rarely documented via other routes such as contamination of mucous membranes (i.e., eyes, nose, mouth), aerosol transmission, and corneal transplants. Transmission through intact skin would be unlikely.

Rabies in your area?: Firstly, which part of the world were you in when you were bitten? There is no rabies in New Zealand but if you were travelling overseas it is possible. See this link for information on which parts of the world have dogs with rabies. http://www.who.int/rabies/epidemiology/en/
