Pediatric fever: Need far more info to even begin to speculate as to the cause of this baby's fever. Need to know what other symptoms are going on, is he fussy, sleeping more, eating less, having a rash, etc. If he is not being seen by a pediatrician you might consider finding one or asking your PCP for a second opinion. Hope this clears up soon.

Confusing question: You mention taking the kid back to the doc, implying at least 2 visits with review of problems and exam. I find it odd that they would not speculate on a cause because most fever in kids is caused by viruses.It is common for a kid to have a fever from a self healing illness and not need antibiotics. A setting where you understand and can trust the findings is important to any parent
