Embryologist: Icsi (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) is an embryology technique in which the embryologist selects the most normal looking sperm, breaks the tail to make it immotile, and then inserts it into the egg using a microscopic technique called micromanipulation. Icsi should be limited to male factor cases where the sperm cannot get into egg without assistance. It is overused but it is required for some.
