I take 30-40mg of abilify (aripiprazole) for bipolar i. i'm having moderate to severe mania. could i add 1.25 to 2.5mg of zyprexa short-term to stop the mania?

See someone: i think u need to see your doc asap. if you are taking 40mg of abilify (aripiprazole) i think its unlikely that low dose zyprexa is going to be very helpful. are you really taking 2 stimulants? that seems unnecessary, esp w/ insomnia. if you are really manic then that is a psychiatric emergency and you need immediate treatment. if in a large city there may be a psychiatric emergency room, go there now.

See MD: Moderate to Severe mania is not something you should be trying to medicate yourself. Please see your prescribing MD as soon as you can for further guidance. It appears you are on some medications that should be evaluated given your symptoms. You can also seek emergency help if you so feel necessary based on severity of your symptoms.
