Acute mania meds: Atypical antipsychotics have been increasingly used for (and gaining FDA approval for) acute mania. Both meds mentioned (abilify (aripiprazole) & paliperidone) are in this class and can be used to treat acute mania. Other atypicals are also used. Li, VPA, and some typical antipsychotics are FDA approved in acute mania as well. Talk with your doc to make the right right choice for your specific case :)

Make appt: tough to say. if i had mixed mania i'd probably want to use seroquel or latuda (lurasidone). if you or someone you know are in the midst of a manic/mixed manic episode then seek immediate medical care. this is something to discuss with your personal physician as there is no way to review options and side effects in 400 characters.
