Sort of: If you have less calories IN than calories OUT you will eventually lose weight. The problem with the sugary foods is that it causes wide fluctuations in your insulin which will inhibit weight loss. That's why foods higher in protein and fiber which keeps the blood sugar more even are better choices for weight loss.

No!: It is never "okay" to eat an unhealthy diet. You may well lose weight on any low calorie diet, but your nutrition and your overall health with suffer if you are not making that low calorie diet balanced and complete in essential nutrients. Krista, PLEASE think long term, and not just about quick fixes!
