Not enough activity: The simple formula which determines if you gain or lose weight is Calories taken in minus Calories used. Taken on a day to day basis, you can know if you are using up the calories or not. If calories eaten far exceeds calories burned up by whatever activity, weight is gained. It does not matter if the calories are fats proteins or carbohydrates, body chemistry turns the excess into fat to store it
