Dry socket: After 7 days, the chances of a dry socket are slim. Healing is dependent on how much infection was present, and the amount of bone that was removed. Make sure you follow the surgeon's post-op advice on caring for the wounds, and return to the surgeon for post-op exam and care.

Dry socket: Most dry sockets happen within 2-5 days. Yes sockets can have a funny smell as they heal, food and oral debris can accumulate in site. Use a plastic syringe with salt water or Hydrogen peroxide to gently rinse the site
