Extraction site: Most likely the funny odor you are experiencing is from the extraction site. Once the tooth is pulled a blod clot forms in the tooth socket starting the healing process. Food or debri can accumulate in the opening of the socket resulting in bad odor. Sometimes the blood cloth does not form or its dislodge resulting in " dry socket" or alveolitis which is a bone inflammation resulting in pain

No mouthwash: It is not abnormal to have bad breath and a bad taste when an extraction site is healing. It should not severely bad breath ("foul breath"), and it should diminish a little bit more each day. Do not use mouthwash yet though! the contents of commercial mouthwash can cause necrosis (death) of the healing tissue and that can cause worsening of the bad breath. Use only salt water rinses.

Possible Dry Socket: Contact your dentist or oral surgeon who removed the teeth to determine if this could be normal odor or from a dry socket. A dry socket may occur if the initial blood clot was lost. This can occur if you smoke or drink from a straw. The strong negative pressure caused by the "sucking" on the cigarette or straw, can pull the clot loose. Do not use mouthwash with alcohol & no vigorous rinsing
