Yes: A simple cyst can become more complex if bleeding or infection occurs within it. Rarely, intracystic malignancy can occur. If it is just some low level echoes, it is probably nothing to worry about. If there are multiple renal cysts, it is not uncommon for one or two to have some internal echoes. If there are no suspicious features, sometimes they are ignored, followed with serial US, or f/uCT

Since 2018 I've had yearly renal ultrasounds to track a complex cyst. In 2018 it measured 2.5 cm. In 2019 2.4 cm, in 2020 2.4 cm and this year 2.6 cm. Is the up and down measurements concerning? The characteristics have have been consistent?
