Obtain follow-up: A small cyst in the liver is common and most likely benign, particularly in the absence of a history of cancer. Since the ultrasound could not confirm that your lesion was a simple cyst, you could get a follow-up ultrasound in about 6 months to make sure it stays the same. If you did have a history of cancer and needed to know right away if your lesion was suspicious, an MRI would be useful.
