Brace care: It is a really bad idea to keep braces on without seeing your orthodontist on a regular basis. You could develop periodontal disease, get shortening of the roots, bone loss, teeth shifting in bad ways, infections, cavities, etc. Your best option is to discuss your options with your orthodontist.

Possible disaster: You must be seen as often as your orthodontic specialist deems necessary to assure that treatment progresses as planned. Prolonged time between appointments can lengthen time in treatment. If damage occurs, teeth may move incorrectly, or teeth/gums could become damaged. Work this out with your orthodontist.
