Yes: It is normal to be nervous about entering into a situation that you are not familiar. Make sure you ask all the questions that will inform you about what is making you nervous (will it hurt, what can't i eat, how long will i be in treatment, etc..). I always say, communication is the key to a successful dr/pt relationship.

Information: The best way to relieve nervousness is to get completely informed. Ask questions about your concerns with your orthodontist and their staff members. Also ask if there is a patient in their practice that has similar issues as yours that would be willing to talk with you about their experience. They would then get permission for communication. All will alleviate your nervousness.
