Retainers: I would get a bonded wire retainer that you don't have to remember to wear or that you could lose. Clear retainers tend to break more often. Wire retainers that are removable don't break as often. All removable retainers can get lost or the patient can forest to wear them.

Depends: Clear requires that you are 100% compliant and do not lose it-- that's 100%. If you are not, then the teeth will go back . Wire requires a different type of compliance -- you must use a floss threader between your teeth to get below the wire to clean the teeth. This are 5 spaces which require a few extra minutes each day.If not compliant, tissues will suffer. I always recommend the wire. Good Luck

Ask Orthodontist: The best answer is the one recommended by your treating Dentist or Orthodontic Specialist. There are many different types of retained, all of which have strengths and weaknesses. The most important thing to remember is to wear your retainer EXACTLY as directed, no cheating, if you want your Orthodontic correction to remain stable.

Get a clear retainer: The clear retainers are not noticeable and if worn well hold the teeth very well and cost less. Actually, you need to build trust with your orthodontist by asking questions when you are uncertain about something.
