How do you FEEL?: Congratulations on your sobriety. I hope you are as pleased as the people who have loved you along your journey through life. With good labs, the best way to know your liver status, really and truly, is how you feel. If you'd continued to drink, or you'd relapsed, your alcoholic cirrhosis is as lethal as most untreated cancers. Treat the cause & cirrhoses stabilizes & even regresses. Be proud.

You saved your life: If your cirrhosis was not biopsy-proven, you may just have had alcoholic hepatitis or bad fatty change. If it was proven on imaging, you will always have some scarring but it does regress after you sober up. Once you stop drinking, the liver enzymes ("function tests") normalize fast whether or not the scar regresses. Stay sober and cherish each day -- you may live a normal life.
