No specific time: Breast implants come in many varieties. There is a misconception that they need replacement in a certain number of years (usually 10, ) but this is not true. They should be checked periodically, but only need replacement if they deflate or cause other problems.

Implants last...: ...on average, about 12-14 years. If you have a silicone implant, and are worried about it, an ultrasound of the breast is a good screening examination to check it.

Zero to 40+ years: I'm not trying to be facetious but I have had implants rupture during insertion and other implants that lasted over 40 years. With saline implants, the rupture is obvious due to deflation. With silicone implants, rupture may not be obvious and may require an MRI or surgery to discover the loss of integrity. I've seen it last 40: No one can tell you exactly how long. About 50% have them exchanged for various reasons (not all rupture) by 10 years. However, if there is no problems and you are happy they can last much longer. I have seen patients have breast implants last 40 years without a problem.

Variable: Many breast implants never rupture. Others seem to rupture relatively early, within a few months. No simple way to predict... If your implants are doing ok then keep doing what you are doing.

Hello! Breast implants typically last 10-15 years. Ruptures may occur earlier, either due to severe impact or trauma to the breasts. Therefore, it is important that you watch for discomfort, pain, or a persistent loss of sensation in the breasts.
