Dry socket?: Pain or discomfort following dental extraction is usually at its worst 24 – 48 hours after surgery, after that it should subside more and more every day and after 7 days stop. Symptoms of pain at the surgical site and even pain to the ear may occur 2-7 days following surgery. If pain persists or worsens, it may require attention and you should call your dentist or oral surgeon for follow up.

See your dentist: See the dentist who extracted the tooth to determine if the area is healing according to schedule or requires further treatment. This is part of routine aftercare following extractions and normally included in the original fee.

Post-op check best: What i read seems to be quite common if your pain is mild to moderate. Right after extraction, blood will pool into the socket, then healing takes place. The blood clots, then starts to lose its red color, becoming more yellow-ish, then gray-ish to white. As the clotted blood is broken down by the body, it will decrease its size and sinks in. Since you still have pain, please have "post-op check".
