What : What exactly are you asking the dentists to do? If your tooth is chipped like you describe, it really should have been repaired by the first dentist you saw. If it is a chip like you describe, bonding should repair your tooth. If the tooth has been traumatized bad enough, it might need a root canal. If so, the tooth may need a crown, also. Don't give up, there has to be a dentist out there for you. Good luck!

I : I find this very peculiar as well. You need to find a dentist will diagnose the situation correctly, and provide the right treatment. Unfortunately other than that i cannot give you any advice over the internet. www.gotoapro.org will have a link to a prosthodontist near you. It is the specialist in restorative dentistry, and I am sure that you will be able to get a proper diagnosis and treatment this way. Best of luck, dr. Zev kaufman.

I : I agree with the confusion. Is the tooth fractured with a missing piece or is it just a "craze line" in the tooth. These are fine lines that can transverse the length of the crown and they are found in a great majority of the population. Craze lines are not symptomatic and do not require treatment.
