Disc displacement: There is a disc of cartilage in the joint space of the tmj. The popping sound signifies that the disc is out of place but "pops" back into position when you open your mouth. You should be evaluated by your dentist.

TMJ Dysfunction : You should see your dentist. You likely have TMJ dysfunction and the joint is likely inflamed and not functioning properly.

TMJDS is : The abbreviation for temporomandibular joing dysfuntion syndrome. The TMJ is the joint of the jaw. It has a fixed part - the skull and a movable part - the lower jaw. There is a cartilage disc between them. If the disc becomes displaced - there can be popping - which will lead to pain and problems if not treated. Find a specialist in TMJ treatment.

Slipping disk: The pop is your disk snapping back in into place. Some partial disc derangement is manageable some are not. Need a TMJ MRI for best diagnosis.
