Likely: The antibiotic, Augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) will likely help deal with an associated dental infection but it still possible if there is any significant purulent(pus) collection associated with this infection that it may require a surgical drainage but a dentist/oral surgeon. Often, abscesses will only fully respond to treatment when they are drained. Make sure you have follow up with a dentist.

Tooth abscess: you have had an infection for several months. Antibiotics alone will it cure an abcsessed tooth The only way to get rid inthe infection is to treat the tooth, the source of the infection, by removing the tooth or with a root canal if the tooth is treatable. See a dentist or an oral surgeon ASAP and get this taken care of. It is not good for the rest of your body to.have an infection this long.

See a dentist ASAP: The tooth infection won't go away without treatment and the infection may spread to your jaw, cheeks, sinus and to other areas of your body. Dentist will treat a tooth abscess by treating the cause and getting rid of the infection. Do not delay. Good luck.

Tooth Abscess: At some point in time that abscess will swell up and become more than uncomfortable. You need definitive dental care, not just antibiotics. Please call a dentist for an appointment.
