Depends on cause: Uveitis has many causes including infection, trauma or injury to the eye, autoimmune diseases, other systemic diseases. The treatment depends on the cause. If the uveitis keeps coming back you will need to see a doctor to help find the reason. If you have an untreated medical condition causing uveitis this may require treatment before you can stop the eye drops.

Chronic idiopathic/autoimmune uveitis can cause permanent blindness. But does acute uveitis/iritis from injury also cause irreversible blindness? Can traumatic uveitis recover on its own in majority cases if steroid or nsaid drops are not used?
