DLP: Elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels can result from genetic make up, poor diet, lack of exercise, being overweight, hormone issues (such as low thyroid), diabetes, etc. If lifestyle changes are insufficient to reduce the levels, increased fiber intake, omega fish oils, niacin, statins and fibrates may be needed. Elevated numbers may increase the risk of heart and vascular disease.
