If an ultrasound test result says " the gallbladder is physiologically distended " what does it mean?

Likely normal: That ultrasound reading may be a normal finding. If symptoms of gallbladder disease persist, further testing may be helpful. A nuclear cholangiogram can sometimes show if the gallbladder is emptying properly, or if it has signs of obstruction that are not clear on the ultrasound.

It is normal: If abnormal might be contracted (not distended) as in chronic cholecystitis or dilated in the setting of bile duct obstruction.
