Tough situation : Unusual but possible. There are people who have problems with gb or bile ducts that don't show up on the usual tests. A sphincter at end of your main bile duct that could be too tight. If so could give typical gb symptoms. Need special manometry test to be sure. But also need to be sure not something else like ulcer disease. I have had few patients with all neg tests that got better after gb surg.

Possible: Some people do have normal studies and actually do improve from gall bladder surgery. There may hyperkinetic gall bladder where ejection fraction is greater than 70%. Most people believe above 35% ef is normal. A small series of patients has been reported where symptoms improved after removal of hyperkinetic gb. Distal common bile duct dyskinesia(sphincter) can be associated with normal gb studies.

Was Kinevac used?: Kinevac is an analog of a hormone (cck) your body produces when you eat fatty foods. It is given as a slow IV infusion (via a vein in the arm) as part of a hida (hepatobiliary) nuclear medicine scan. The first part of the scan evaluates the liver and the "tubes" between the liver, gallbladder and small bowel. Then the Kinevac is given to see how the gallbladder empties, as an ejection fraction.
