Can do Pilates: I encourage my patients to return to routine activities as soon as possible post closure procedures. The concern is that by straining, the increased intraabdominal pressure will cause the vein valves to reopen. I have not seen this happen ever in over 15 years of doing closure procedures. The limiting factor post procedure , i feel, is discomfort from pounding of the legs not reopening the valves.

Probably Yes: The answer is "probably". Although you will unlikely cause any harm to the treatment site, there is a very small chance that you could increase the blood flow into the leg to the point that the treated vein re-open ; the treatment fail. This is a theoretic risk and is very unlikley to occur. Most doctors who do this procedure recommend compression stockings ; no vigorous exercise for 1-2 weeks.
