Varicose vein treatment: what can you tell me about the evlt procedure?

Evlt treatment: EVLT stands for endovenous laser treatment in which a very thin fiberoptic laser fiber is inserted, usually into a saphenous vein, through a needle puncture. Under local injected anesthetic, the laser light transfers energy to the vein during withdrawal, heating and sealing the vein closed. It is an office or outpatient procedure lasting less than 5 minutes of lasering, with a half hour of prep.

EVLT: EVLT stands for EndoVenous Laser Treatment. It is a common therapy to treat varicose veins of the legs that is associated with saphenous vein reflux. Most varicose vein disease (but not all) is the result of superficial vein reflux in the saphenous or perforator veins of the leg. With this therapy, a small laser fiber is inserted into the defective saphenous vein under ultrasound & heated closed
