No not really: Evlt , endovenous laser therapy , which is now the most common treatment for saphenous vein reflux is usually done with local anesthesia which renders the treatment painless. Administering the local anesthesia requires usually 5 or 6 needle sticks with a small needle so there is some discomfort involved. My patient have rated the discomfort about a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10 . With 0 being no pain.

Minimally Sore After: Typically most patients have minimal discomfort during & after the procedure. During the procedure there is some mild discomfort during the injections that are used to numb the leg (numbing "shots"). The discomfort is usually right at the treatment site afterwards & is usually controlled with ibuprofen or Tylenol (acetaminophen). The discomfort is usually does not limit normal activities or ability to work.
