A member asked:

What is the blood work protocol while taking hydroxychloroquine and methotrexate? i've had bloodwrk once in the year i've been taking these 2 drugs.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tests: Blood tests for monitoring of methtrexate consist of CBC and platelet count as well as liver function tests to keep track of potential liver and bone marrow damage. The tests can be done every 3 to 6 months or as needed as determined by any symptoms. Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) rarely causes blood problems but an annual eye exam is important.
