My blood count #'s continue to show me very anemic.they cannot find blood anywhere despite being tested. could my lupus, ra, high bp & their rx's (plaquenil, methotrexate & gabapenten) be causing it?

Yes: Lupus can cause anemia. Also Methotrexate could cause anemia depending on dose. There is a category called anemia of chronic disease that you may also fit into with multiple chronic illnesses. Make sure your thyroid is normal, though.

Yes: Lupus and RA can cause anemia of chronic disease. They can also cause antibodies that block transfusion matches. Methotrexate and Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) can cause anemia. Gabapentin is less likely the issue. Htn is more a part of your overall condition. If your kidneys are involved that could effect you blood pressure and anemia.

Yes.Can suppress bon: Your doctors may do a CBC (complete blood count) with differential. It can give many clues as to the cause of anemia and direct the next testing to be done. If iron deficiency or vitamin B12 deficiency is indicated as a possible cause, you will receive testing and supplements.Autoimmune disease, chronic illness can suppress bone marrow that makes blood cells. You may need a bone marrow biopsy.
