Tear in retina - is central vision affected at all?

Variable side vision: Vitreous separation and vitreous hemorrhage occur with retinal tears-causing vitreous floaters, and floaters in your vision. This can also result in hazy general vision. The laser procedure helps to prevent the tear from progressing to a retinal detachment; however it does not resolve the vitreous floaters. The vitreous floaters can takes weeks to months to improve.

Depends: A tear in the retina is the first step in what can become a retinal detachment. If the tear is treated with laser, a retinal detachment can be prevented. Central vision can be affected by retinal detachment or blood in eye from a tear. Retinal detachment needs surgery, bleeding likely will clear up on it's own (but the tear that caused the tear should still be treated).
