A member asked:

I was wondering is it ok to use a toothpaste that has whitening effect with braces?

Not a good idea: Whitening agent can't get behind the braces, so it can look like you have an i bleached dark spot in the middle of each tooth when braces removed.

No but still brush: I wouldn't recommend it on the off chance that it actually works. If you whiten your teeth while you have brackets on your teeth, when the brackets are removed, you will have a nice rectangular area in the middle of your tooth that is darker than the adjacent teeth. Its best to wait for whitening until after the braces are off. However, good brushing is essential with braces.
