Yes: Whitening toothpaste will not cause any problems while wearing braces. The minimal whitening you may get can then be continued on the surfaces currently covered by the brackets after removal. Better yet, now you will have nice straight teeth, so get them professionally whitened by your dentist. You will be much happier with the results.

Would not: while most whitening toothpaste is very mild, you may cause a shade difference between the exposed tooth and the part covered by the braces. I would wait until after the braces come off and ask your orthodontist about using your retainer as a tray to employ professional grade whitening (we sell this for only an extra $25 after braces)

Not advisable: You will whiten the area around the braces, but not behind the braces. When braces come off your teeth will have dark areas behind where the braces used to be. See your Dentist regularly for check-ups and cleanings while braces are on, and have them professionally whitened after braces come off.
